I AM Grounded.

Does that mean my parent sent me to my room? No. Grounding is a term that applies to electricity, emotions and metaphysics.

When something is grounded to the Earth, excess charge is dissipated into the ground and brought to a neutral electrical charge state. If a person is emotionally charged, grounding dissipates that charge and brings them back to a more neutral, calm and still state.

Through grounding, you become calmer, more focused, more present in the here and now. In that state you are more connected and able to act more effectively.

How does one do grounding? One way is to walk barefoot on the grass or ground, or lay down on the grass. Gardening is grounding. One can also do visualization meditations such as visualizing oneself as a tree, arms reaching up as branches, fingers as leaves taking in sunlight and air, legs as the tree trunk, feet as the tree base with roots going deep down into the Earth and bringing up nutrients from the Earth. Another way to do grounding is taking a bath with sea salt (not table salt). Certain essential oils can be grounding. So can certain colours such as reds, browns and black. Eating foods that grow inside the Earth are grounding such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, turnips, beets and radishes.
