dictionary.com states: patient (adjective): 1. enduring trying circumstances with even temper. 2. tolerant; understanding. 3. capable of accepting delay with equanimity.
So often we are impatient with others and with ourselves. People are in a hurried state. In traffic, a person honks their horn at another driver, not to signal danger (which is why the horn was first invented) but to convey impatience. At the grocery store, a person is impatient with the new clerk.
People are doing the best they can.
Sometimes the Divine puts delays in our path for our own good. Dr. Wayne W. Dyer used to tell the story of when his car had a flat tire on the way to the airport. Eventually he got to the airport and asked for the next flight. The clerk was amazed. She then told him that the airplane flight that he had been booked on had crashed. Later, Dr. Dyer put that flat tire on his fireplace mantle as a reminder.
Slow down. Be still. Know that all things happen in their proper time. You cannot rush the river. Be patient with yourself and others.
For today, I AM Patient. I AM That.
