dictionary.com states playful (adjective): 1. full of play or fun; sportive; frolicsome. 2. pleasantly humorous or jesting: a playful remark. Origin: Middle Dutch pleien: to leap for joy, dance, rejoice, be glad.
Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, "It is a happy talent to know how to play." In Matthew 18:3, Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven."
Children play. It's fun. It's how they learn. It's stimulating. It's how they socialize and make friends. It builds self-confidence. It's an emotional release. And if the play involves physical activity, it gets them physically active. Just look at any playground; children are running, jumping, climbing. What do we adults do? We typically do not play. Yet, as children show us adults, there are so many benefits to play. Take some time to play. Be playful.
For today, I remember that I AM Playful. I AM That.
